Rodney J. Suggs was born and raised in Elkhart, Indiana. He is the son of Ronnie and Priscilla Suggs and has two brothers, Wayne and Ryan Suggs. He earned his undergraduate degree in Recreation and Sports Management from Indiana State University, followed by dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Business Management from Indiana Tech. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

From a young age, Rodney was passionate about writing, frequently journaling in notebooks once he learned to put words together. This passion eventually led him to become a published author of two successful novels, with his third book nearing release. Overall, he has sold approximately 1,200 copies of his books to date. 

Rodney is a family-oriented husband and father. He currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, with his lovely wife of twenty years, Beka (Sariyu). He is a proud father to his son, Jamehl, who is a freshman at Michigan State University studying animal science, with aspirations to become a veterinarian. Rodney has been employed as an Associate Director with the ancillary team at Eli Lilly & Company for over thirteen years. 

Rodney’s vision is to make his writing company Scorpio Dream Writing prestigious with an end game of turning each book into a Netflix Series. In addition to that, Rodney aspires to mentor future young Black writers/authors with aspirations of teaching creative writing at a collegiate level in the near future.  He noted that although he writes primarily from a vulnerable males perspective on love to provide an alternative view on how men are perceived and challenge the "not all men are dogs" cliche, over 90% of his readers are women. Our female readers have grown to appreciate the emotional depth of male characters that Rodney has created, such as Khalil in his debut novel, Love Is Blind. Rodney refers to his followers as “Dream Readers" and emphasizes the importance of being personable and connected, rather than an unapproachable author to his audience. Success in the next five years involves achieving a major status, gaining endorsements, and transitioning into a full-time author.
